Tanzania

Popularly referred to as “The Soul of Africa”, Tanzania is a True Wildlife, Adventurer and Nature Lover’s Paradise. Everything about Tanzania will simply take your breath away. From watching Africa from her “roof top” at point Uhuru (means freedom in Kiswahili), her highest peak on Mt. Kilimanjaro at 5,895 metres above sea level, exploring the magical beauty and wildlife at the Ngorongoro Crater Floor to trailing the Wildebeest Migration and enjoying Big Game sightings in Serengeti’s seemingly “Endless Plains”, Tanzania has it all and will in fact more often than not satisfy even the most insatiable of appetites for an Authentic African Safari Experience.

From Lake Victoria in the north to Selous National Reserve in the south, Lake Eyasi to the Ndutu Plains, and Tarangire’s dry Savannah to Lake Natron, Tanzania has an array of unique, natural hidden gems all waiting to be discovered by the discerning traveler. The Datoga craftsmen and farmers, the Hadza Be bush men, the Ngorongoro Masai, The Chagga and the Iraqw boast of their rich culture and can’t wait to share their traditional way of life with their visitors. Although Tanzania’s north where world renowned attractions like Mt. Kilimanjaro, Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater and Lake Manyara are found is the more popular, the less frequented Southern Safari circuit will astound every traveler who dares to follow this “off the beaten track”  region.

Unlike the northern circuit whose safari capital is the city of Arusha, most safaris to the southern circuit begin and end in Dar Es Salaam; a port city and a perfect combination of the modern Tanzania and the Tanzania of old.  Meaning a “Haven of Peace” in Arabic, this cosmopolitan city which has one of the best deep natural harbours in the world has evolved from a small, 19th century Swahili town to a city of over 3.5 million with all of Tanzania’s 120 tribes represented and living together in harmony.

Selous and Saadani Game Reserves as well as Mikumi, Udzungwa Mountains and Ruaha National Parks have their gateway in Dar Es Salaam. With an area of 55,000 sq km, Selous National Reserve is Africa’s largest, well watered wildlife sanctuary and one of the largest protected areas in the world. Most parts of this stunning park which is bigger than Switzerland remain little touched by human. Selous is a Big Game territory with some of the animals found here being Elephant, Hippos, Buffalos, Wild Dogs, Crocodile, Elands, Greater Kudu, the rare Sable Antelope, Lion, Leopard and Cheetah. The ecological importance of Selous has led it to being designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site from 1982.

Authentic East Africa Adventures has been all over Tanzania and “done that” over the years and it’s now our pleasure to share our love, passion and profound knowledge of Tanzania’s safari product with you.
